After picking up internet marketing and elimination my limiting belief, I finally managed to quit by 12 hr per day job and goes on a well deserved holidays in Taiwan. A 14 Day trip to be exact. Traveling alone is one of those life-changing, rich experiences that can substantially shape up your entire existence. Whether you choose to embark on a journey to a specific destination or all around the world, you will undoubtedly return home wiser, mentally and emotionally more mature and ready to tackle life’s challenges with an improved arsenal of learned qualities. To give you just a taste of what traveling alone can do for your mind, spirit and body, allow me to share some of the things you can learn while traveling alone.

6 Things  you can learn while traveling alone

1. You Are Your Best Friend

When there is just you and yourself against the world, you will learn hands-on one of life’s quintessential lessons – that you, and no one else, is your best friend, whether you are going through happy times or some unavoidable hardships in life. It’s only when you physically have no one else to turn to for a good ol’ friendly advice or guidance that you realize the importance of trusting yourself to be your best and ideal friend.

2. You Can Just Go with the Flow

Not everything in life has to be planned well in advanced and perfectly organized for us to reap the most anticipated benefits life has to offer. Sometimes, it’s good to get in tune with the all-pervading universal energy and just let nature follow its course. Traveling alone can teach you all about serendipity and that some of the best things in life come to us when we are least expecting them. Whether you are calling it a fluke or a fateful occurrence, never underestimate the power of nature in people’s lives.

3. Taking Responsibility for All Your Actions and Words

One of the most crucial things I learned about traveling alone is that the world would be a better place if each and every one of us took responsibility for absolutely everything we do or say, good or bad. Accepting to take responsibility for our words and actions goes hand in hand with staying true to who we are, our set of values and principles that guide us in life. Traveling solo teaches you ( and oftentimes the hard way) that you can’t really blame others for what you’ve done – dust yourself off and handle the situation like a responsible adult.

4. Boosting Self-Confidence and Reinventing Yourself

Traveling alone, without your family or friends is one of the best ways to tap into your inner self, learn about what you’re really made of and restore or improve your self-confidence and self-esteem. With your loved ones’ pep talk, you will have no other choice but to go deep into your being and learn to rely on yourself, which in turn allows you to discover or re-discover yourself and even re-invent yourself in ways you’ve never imagined. Whatever you plan to do, your new mantra will be ” I’ve got me”.

5. The Power of Freedom and Testing Your Limits

Life is too short to not indulge in raw freedom. Every now and then, we get the feeling that we are prisoners of our own lives – our daily routine, jobs, commitments, and responsibility to our family members and community sometimes makes us yearn for that carefree, uplifting sense of freedom where the sky is the limit for anything we want to do. One of the most empowering things I learned about traveling alone is to enjoy freedom on your own terms and always aim higher in order to truly test your limits and grow as a person. At the end of the day, tasting pure freedom makes you cherish even more your loved ones and your life as it is.

6. Embracing New Cultures, Interacting with New People and Making New Friends

First-hand exposure to different cultures, backgrounds and even mentalities allows you to expand your horizons, both culturally and socially while teaching you about open-mindedness, empathy, respect for these cultural differences and connecting with people from different parts of the world. In addition to helping you tap into your inner reservoir of emotions and aspirations, traveling alone also brings people together and teaches you about the importance of social interaction with individuals that we don’t necessarily have something in common with. Equally important, when you travel alone you will learn why the best things in life are always free and devoid of language or cultural barriers – a friendly advice, a helping hand or a kind smile are universal and truly invaluable.
